I was approached by manager for this project where I had no previous training or knowledge of React and he wanted me to spend some time to get as much knowledge as possible before project start. I managed to get a decent start after 2 weeks of training and online tutorials where I was able to build a few simple projects with React and understood hooks and many other React related topics.
With knowledge of health industry projects and some React components and general info, I wanted to dig deeper to understand the build and process of development by the team and was fortunate to have a few senior devs who were able to train me and help me understand the code and why certain things were done the way it was done.
After getting the local installs for the project done along with all dependencies using GIT and related tools, I was quickly making changes to the codebase and pushing my changes to github branches where it was later merged with the main brach. This was a really easy way for me to get familiar and use the tools while figuring out issues and fixing them throughout the process.
Much of the last stages of this project was about testing and ensuring layout and dependencies were good and I found and fixed many bugs and the team and my manager was very excited about the progress I made with React and my level of understanding and knowledge after a few months of this project.
