The project started out simple with a new brand where I was tasked to create the logo. As you can see from some of the sketches, I tried different things that I thought would appeal to the project manager. High-end was the buzz word so I opted for a slick font for the logo type and kept symbols to minimum for the most part when I was actually designing it.
I was the go-to person for all materials on this project (aside from the renderings of the buildings) and tried to keep spacing and typography as consistent as possible even though there was no clear direction on what will be needed through out the project.
There were times where requests came very last minute and I basically had minutes to complete the task. The best way to deal with these things is to use a template if possible and change the size to fit and you already have the colors and fonts in the document so this made things easier for me in the long run.
As with all projects, client feedback isn't always what we designers think looks good but in the end, after you educate the client about the different design decisions and why certain things work well, you just have to do the work and make sure they sign off on the changes so things are confirmed (in writing). I dealt with this a bit on this project and cleared lots of tasks by confirming these details via emails so further changes would mean a different time-line. This helps save my time and the company's time as well.
The main challenge with this project was the lack of info as there wasn't a complete plan (I felt) for all materials needed from the start. I kept getting requests for different ads they wanted at different times. It was a new project so there may have been ways to advertise or even get the project requirements at an early stage but this kept happening until the very last stage of designs. I didn't have a design system for this since I wasn't sure how large it was going to be or how many pieces of ads they needed but luckily, I accounted for things like this early on and kept my files organized very well and managed to be consistent and thorough with each task.
The townhomes sold fantasically fast of course as with most real estate in the past 10 years but the great thing about this project was that I delivered any and all types of ads on time and there were plenty of print materials. What I share here is not even half what I worked on.
It's great to see the finished products and the client was also extremely happy with the work as it was 50% faster turn around than what was expected.
